We taped up blankets taped off every available opening from the rest of the house. We totally enclosed ourselves with our sleeping goods and the air conditioner and we slept in the living room. I really didn't think it would come to that, but it was the first night since I've been here that I haven't woken up sweating.By the morning, this was all that was left: We knew that masking tape wasn't the best option, but you do what you gotta... A high heel as a hammer and a little masking tape and voila, a quite comfortable sleeping situation!
I was thinking all day at work that the guy who's apartment we're staying at was going to come get his mail and see all this tape on the walls and really really think we were insane because it was like this over both the doorways. hahaha I would.
After work, I met Lex at Home Depot. We purchased a 44 pound window unit for our bedroom. We then proceeded to lug the 44 pound window unit two blocks to the subway (it took both of us to do this by the way). Then we had to figure out how to get the 44lb window unit through the turnstile. Then we got it onto the train and rode 4 stops home. Then we re-picked up the 44lb window unit and proceeded two more blocks home. And hells bells, if we didn't have to get the thing up to the third floor once we got there. Now for installation....
Speaking of using a high heel as a hammer and masking tape as an anchor--- I'm totally into DIY! I'm super stoked about this craft-fair this weekend! It's in the same area of Brooklyn that we were thrifting in last weekend!
The things a southern girl will do for her air conditioning!
ReplyDeleteMaybe while Frank's at the fifth museum, we can go to something off the wall like this little craft fair!
Aimee says what is DYI - Do Yourself In? I know....just a slip of the finger...haha
ReplyDeleteI meant DIY.
ReplyDeleteBut depending on who's 'doing' it could very well be my 'Freudian-Slip' interpretation.
Noooo!! Craft fair? How amazing is that???
ReplyDeleteHooray for air conditioning!!! A long, involved trip, and it will TOTALLY be worth it! :-) How are you recovering from the mold?
