Biloxi or Bust

I went to Ocean Springs & Biloxi for work this week and had a great time. Such a cute little town that boasts the birthplace of Walter Anderson, one of the South's eccentric and most talented artists! (below is the Ohr O'Keef Museum designed by architect Frank Ghery)
I stayed in our sweet company condo. (That Jennifer from our Interiors Department designed!)
I saw boats,

mosaic murals,
and revitalization right alongside ruins. I was not prepared for the amount of damage from Katrina that would still be present. These cities are coming back, but are still, almost four years later, not anywhere near what they were before the storm.
Bryan's aunt and uncle Cherry & Chuck are from that area and met me for dinner one night. Thank you both so much for the excellent food and the amazing sunset tour!

And how could I possibly forget? Tato-nut Donuts! Chuck and Cherry recommended them and boy oh boy, the trip was completely worth it in one bite! I even had to bring some home to Bryan, just to make sure he believed my description of how good they were!

Furnace Fest

Our dear friends Neil and Beverly got married on Saturday in Birmingham at Sloss Furnaces! A typewriter was the guest book!We hadn't been to Sloss in years and it was so fun to go back to witness their union. The beautiful bride! Beverly looked gorgeous!!!All of the favors were hand-made pin-wheels. Each one was different and made from found materials.

Aimee-Cakes is a graduate!

My little sister graduated from high school this weekend!I remember when she was born! And her first day of school. And that time she bit me!

And as much as I wanted to send her back when she first came home, I'm so glad we kept her! She has been such a fun person to get to know and such a great encouragement in my life. I really love my little sister! Congratulations, Dear!

Now that our house is back in order, I've had a little time to be crafty!
Bryan had all these wooden color chips from a school project and I filled this empty frame with them! I kind of like it. I didn't leave them this way, I just stuck them in there and snapped a photo which made for a good 20 minutes of fun!
I also finished up all of Mary Grace's graduation announcements, remember the ones with the feathers on the fronts?

Weirdo.

Does anyone else eat hot dogs and bananas from both ends? Or is it just me?
I swear it's not a conscious thing, either. I just take a bite off this end, a couple off that end... until it's gone!

My Wee Sis

Aww, my little sister is graduating from High School this weekend! Way to go!

It's all fun and games

until the sky opens up.
We had a yard sale on Saturday morning! (and people showed up at 4:30am with flash lights to look through things!!! WHAT?!)
That was why we were up so early.
That is why our house was totally ransacked.
And I have no idea who that weird guy is.
We got rid of at least half of our earthly possessions and it's a bit unsettling for me when I'm at home now. It feels empty. It's not by any means, but relatively speaking, it seems like there's nothing left!
Anyway, we made a good amount of money which will all go toward the big move!

The boys really had a good time showing off the merchandise! And then, as I mentioned before... the sky opened up.It was a mad dash to get everything into the house/ into the van.

There were a few men who didn't quite make it out alive. We tried to rescue them, we really did... Once a stuffed animal, now a water boarded pile of soggy fluff.

Overall the yard sale was great! Now I get to re-arrange what's left of my house!

I'll get you my pretty, and your little dog too!

Why does our house look like this two months BEFORE the big move?!

Why am I up at 3:33 in the morning on a SATURDAY?!

Who is this weird guy?!

All in good time, my dears, all in good time...

I made graduation announcements for Bryan's cousin.
My sister is graduating from high school so I attended her graduation tea. At which everyone was wore hats and gloves. I made my 'hat.'

We also celebrated Mother's Day by camping with Bryan's family & going to lunch with mine.
