Not a Bad Life at All

It was so good to see Lily again after a week away! I missed that little bug!
Today after the random morning thunder storm gave way to extreme heat and sun, we ventured over to the Christian Science Plaza to play in their fountain!

I was hot too, maybe next time I'll suit up! Speaking of suiting up... we are headed to the beach tomorrow! What are your weekend plans?

I've been busy...

See?

I haven't taken any pics down here. I'll get on that, I promise!

Let Beach Week Begin!

Woo Hoo! After a 4:45am alarm clock and a 7something flight out of Boston, we are on our way to Beach Week!
We look forward to this week all year! Like I've said before, I could live on the sand near the ocean. We still have a long journey today but the rest of the family is already making their way, caravan style, to the Gulf of Mexico. See you soon!

Play Ball!

I love watching games in Fenway Park. The fans make the game. The park is great too because no matter where you sit, you're not terribly far from the action. We had great seats yesterday when we went to the game. Many thanks to Lily's dad for the tickets! We appreciate you getting those for us!

Our friends, Emily and Cam came too but I didn't get any pics of them :(

Another frowny face: I'm sick! We were supposed to go to the beach today but I can't see straight and my head is fuzzy from all the medicine I'm taking... I'm sure it will pass quickly, though. And I'd much rather be sick this weekend than next weekend!!!! Yay! Beach Week is almost here!

He's Gone Country

"Contrary to what you may have heard from Henry Rollins or/and Ian MacKaye and/or anyone else who joined a band after working in an ice cream shop, you can't really learn much about a person based on what kind of music they happen to like. As a personality test, it doesn't work even half the time. However, there is at least one thing you can learn: The most wretched people in the world are those who tell you they like every kind of music "except country." - Chuck Klosterman

Bryan recently discovered his love for contemporary country music, and while I can sing almost every word to every song because that's what I grew up on, he's just now embracing this genre. We've always listened to the older stuff. I can think of a few times laying down by the river singing along to George Jones or Dwight Yoakam. And maybe that was the primer he needed to ease into mainstream country music. I don't know... whatever happened, I'm happy about it... We can't be this full of excitement about something without sharing it with our friends so we had a party.

Bryan sent out an email (with the above quote) and these major bullet points:
  • There will be a projector (thanks Ian!) playing your requested and suggested country music videos! He got everyone to send youtube links and he was able to put together a 5 hour play list! There were times when seriously everyone in the room was singing along surprisingly enough!! "I was thinkin' 'bout a little white tank top sittin' right there in the middle by me..." "sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth" "way down yonder on the chatahootchee"
  • Everyone should bring whiskey for blind taste-offs. Watching "Mississippi Squirrel Revival" and sipping whiskey from tiny communion cups seemed about right. I only participated in one round so I'm not sure what the final outcomes were.
  • Bring a side dish! Casseroles/desserts etc. Anything appropriately country. We'll provide Sloppy Joes, coleslaw, potato salad, and banana pudding!
  • And last but not least: dress appropriately! boots, bolo ties, overalls, jorts, cowboy hats, daisy dukes, plaid, bbq-stained whtie t-shirts, spurs, chaps etc.

This was just what we already had! There were about twice this many once everyone brought something to sip!

Sweet tea and red Solo cups!

Sloppy Joes, potato salad, and cole slaw! I think Bryan bought most of the ground beef in the display case  at Whole Foods yesterday. So much sloppy joe!

banana pudding!

Cowboy boots! Yes, he already had them!

Erin's sweet belt buckle! She said Ian brought it back from Texas a few weeks ago.

Do you know this song? "He can't even bait a hook. He can't even skin a buck. He don't know who Jack Daniels is. He can't even drive a truck." (in this song hook, buck, and truck all rhyme by the way) It's worth a listen I assure you.

Woo! I'm so glad we have friends who want to do weird/fun things with us!
