Acadia Part III: The Place

Like I said, Acadia National Park is one of the most beautiful places on this Earth! My friend, Alison, raved about this place and gave us tips on where to go and what to do while we were there. Thank you, Alison!
There are mountains, hills, cliffs, ocean, fresh water glacial ponds and lakes, hiking paths, beaches and plenty more, I'm sure!

Thunder Hole: This was the most people we saw all weekend.

Acadia Part II: The Food

We may have been camping but we ate like kings!
We stopped at Two Fat Cats Bakery in Portland on our way up! Our favorite pie!!

We got a tiny strawberry-rhubarb pie

A raspberry whoopie pie

And a delicious mixed berry pie!

And a little bit further North we stopped at Young's Lobster Pound (the clams were so delicious we ended up stopping for lunch again on our way home the next day!)
Lobster and Clams
Sitting on the deck with a harbor view watching sail boats!

the lobsters in the tank. The guy told me I could pick one up if I wanted... they are not as cute as bunnies... if they had been bunnies I would have picked one up.

A so so good lobster roll. Probably my favorite one I've had!

Here's that dutch oven that I picked up at Brimfield! All seasoned and ready to cook! It was the perfect camping companion!

Voila! Roasted chicken with collard greens and mushrooms!

And I don't know why I've never thought of this before but PB cups instead of chocolate bars were AMAZING on smores!!!

And of course there was breakfast!
breakfast sausages with home made brioche and home made apricot jam (I made both of those while Bryan was recovering from his wisdom tooth extraction last Tuesday)!

Acadia Part I: Camping

Bryan and I went camping this weekend and it was great! If you know me, you know how much I dislike being without running water, a bathroom, a shower, air conditioning, heating. And the bugs-- oh the bugs... you get the idea. But I have recently seen the beauty in the idea of bonding with the great outdoors. I can do this camping thing. Not only can I do it... I DID do it!

We went to Acadia National Park in Maine. It's on the upper east coast and is truly one of the most beautiful places I've ever been! If ever you have a reason to visit the Northeast, Acadia should be on your short list!
Yes, we were only gone for one night and two days. Yes, we could have survived indefinitely on the items in our car.

Here's our site at Acadia!

Bryan put his boy scout skills to work!

And I put my Pinterest resources to work! This is seriously the best fire starter! Dryer lent stuffed into a toilet paper roll. It was amazing how well it worked.

We borrowed this tent from Derek and Tiffanie (since we weren't sure we should be investing in camping gear until we were sure I could survive one weekend).

More beauty and food from our trip to come soon!

Beach Saturday

Our sweet Crane Beach was full after having been featured in USA Today as Massachusetts' best beach... So we went up to Plum Island!

We're up early today so we can head North! Acadia, here we come!
