We had our 'Summer Outting' today with our office. I hear they always do great things... a couple of years ago they chartered a yacht and cruised up and down the river, last year they rented a double decker bus and the firm's founder was the tour guide (he's probably worked on most of the buildings around town at one point or another in his career anyway). Today we went to Chelsea to a restaurant called The Park. It was really nice. Our party was in the penthouse... which also happened to be on the second floor of the two story building, but who's counting, really? The restaurant was really hip. We had a DJ, a special office cocktail, finger foods, a magician, tee shirts...
What?
Oh, yea... I said magician. Red velvet jacket and all.
It was fun.
Then I met Bryan and Lexie at Union Square and we went down to SOHO to grab a bite to eat before we headed to The New Museum (which is free on Thursday nights)! It was really awesome. The building looks like a bunch of blocks stacked on top of each other and was designed by SANAA. The art inside ranged from a horse's body mounted to a blank wall, to video installations, to a full size tree cut apart and bolted back together in the main gallery, to an artist, herself, rolling around on the floor as an installation... It was really great!

ReplyDeleteThe New Museum was designed by the firm SANAA not Peter Eisenmann
ReplyDeleteThanks for catching that! All fixed. I thought I saw his name over the door, but Bryan confirmed that I was absolutely wrong!
ReplyDeleteLooks like another "must see" - Thursday night would be good!
