Come Sail Away With Me.

We had the most amazing day today! We woke up with no big plans, but Meredith called and asked if we wanted to come play on her family's yacht. Of course we took her up on it. Her yacht is the Mariner and has been docked in the Chelsea Piers for 20 years or so. It is open to charter with a full time staff that lives aboard. (the building pictured above is IAC Headquarters designed by architect Frank Gehry which was right across the street from the pier we were at today. It was designed to resemble sails such as those seen daily on the Hudson River!)
So we went out to the Hudson River and had an awesome time!
We laid out on the deck for a while.Arian, Ashley, Me, Molly Gee, Justine, and Meredith!

Then ate an awesome lunch prepared by the Mariner's chef, Morrison. (He was also our dingy driver/ tour guide.)
As you can clearly see above, a batch of noon-time margaritas were mixed and poured into sippy cups so that they could go on our river adventure!
After lunch we went on a river cruise in the dingy around the entire island of Manhattan! It took a couple of hours and it was a blast!
We saw the soon-to-be-retired Yankee Stadium, all 11 bridges that connect the island to other bodies of land, Eric Clapton's private yacht, the statue of Liberty, Governors Island, Roosevelt Island, Queens, Brooklyn, New Jersey, the Bronx, Harlem, The upper East and West Sides, Wall Street/ Financial District... Pretty much everything that is along the waterline. We even went really close to the waterfall installation on the Brooklyn Bridge and felt the mist! (I dropped my camera off at the Mariner when we went by after getting fuel so that I wouldn't have to worry about losing it while we cruised. Thus I only have tales of all that we saw around the island... It's only the thing of myth now, and you don't have to believe me if you don't want to.)

To finish the day off perfectly, we watched the sun set over the New Jersey horizon from a fun restaurant on the river called the Frying Pan. Hope you had a great Sunday as well!

You actually missed a day like that on the Puget Sound when you were little (alas, we left you with a babysitter) - so I'm so glad you got to do this. What an awesome friend to share the boat!!
