What's for Brunch?

We cashed in my free Craigie brunch today!
Amazing. It always is.

Bryan had a 'northern lights' cocktail, beef tongue & cheek hash with onion rings and a coddled egg, a house made doughnut, and an apple financier cake with caramel ice cream!

I had a bloody mary (the most delicious one I've ever had- with pepper gin and a tobasco-habanero marinated celery stick), fresh fruit and yogurt, a poppy seed bagel with trout rillette and salmon and roe and cream cheese, and sour milk panna cotta.

They also brought us potato galette on the house and thanked us for coming in often!

So yummy!!

Also, just to clear up any confusion about yesterday's post- I don't love love love to run (yet) (I enjoy it and the farther I go the better I feel but love is a strong word). In fact for the first two miles of EVERY run I feel like I have made a terrible choice to run a half marathon and that I might die and that if I don't stop immediately and apologize to my legs that they might decide to leave my body- just fall right off...
So rather than complain to Bryan, because he doesn't want to hear it and not to mention the fact that I don't want to be 'A Complainer,' I count.
Yep, numbers. It's calming and forces me to focus on something else (please, God, anything else) than running. Running is all in my head and I used to listen when my body said "STOP! What are you doing to me?!?!"
But now I count. I make up little jingles to go with the numbers and change up how high I count every few minutes so that I never get bored. It works like a charm! It probably wouldn't work for everyone but the point is "you can do it too!" figure out how to calm yourself and relax and then just keep going!
One doo doo do da doot da doo doo, Two doo doo...

Seven Mile Saturday

We just finished our run and my knees are very, very sad.

Running around the Charles is great and all but if Bryan wasn't such a good encourager I'd never be able to push myself so far.
Thanks, Love.

Next week is a 5 mile fun run! Sure sounds fun, doesn't it?

I Couldn't Wait

Everyone in Mississippi is planting gardens and wearing shorts...
It snowed here all day yesterday and is supposed to snow for the next two days.
Last week I started a few herbs for our garden in little window boxes on our window sill and they are already growing!!

They want it to be spring time, I can tell.

I've been working hard on getting my Etsy up and running. Nothing is in the shop yet, but a few photos are taken of items and more are being made! I can't wait to share my shop with everyone!

What items do you want to see in my shop? I need some help in this area!!

Our Wind Advisory

There is a wind advisory all day today. That on top of the high being nearly 70 makes for a wonderful outdoor adventure.
Adele and I packed a snack and our kite and were off to the field.
With the whipping winds, I was only able to capture the tails of our kite.

The first thing Adele did when she got to hold the kite string was let go of it.

Happy Friday to you! I have sleep on the agenda for this weekend. Along with starting my etsy shop! There will be a giveaway as soon as it's up and running so keep tuned in!

Boston in a Nutshell

We've really given Mason & Katie our best hard sell of Boston this week. And I think that Boston has made a good impression on them! (Choose us! Choose us!)
We've toured Harvard's campus and Square, toured the Sam Adams Brewery, been to the Museum of Fine Arts and the Institute of Contemporary Art, walked the freedom trail, almost won pub quiz and been to our very favorite restaurant for restaurant week! And that has only been since Sunday!

They head home tomorrow and hopefully Amtrak will be kinder to them on their return. Seriously, never travel Amtrak. They were horrible to them and were totally unapologetic for their 17 hour delay or their unplanned for out of pocket hotel room in New York. But I digress...
It has been so fun having friends here!

Hooray Hooray!

After a long, crazy, bizarre train trip, Mason & Katie finally made it to Boston!

Better pictures to come!

A Late Mardi Gras

Adele and I celebrated Mardi Gras yesterday! Only a little late!

We made king cake!

Adele is such a good helper! She loves sitting at the counter while I cook.

And then we made masks!

I'm so excited for the weekend! Mason & Katie are on their way to Boston right now! They are taking the train up from Mississippi and will spend a few days deciding if Boston will be their new home!!
Happy Friday!

Space Jam

Laura met Adele and me at the Children's Museum for lunch today and as we were eating an announcement was made that everyone in the building was invited to attend Shaquille O'Neil's birthday party after lunch! We were excited and conveyed to each other our love for the movie Space Jam as well as his amazing early career when he played for the Bulls. (it wasn't until after the party that we realized that we had been talking about Michael Jordan the entire time... We're such sports enthusiasts- clearly)

Adele was not interested by the time we finally saw him. Even the prospect of cake couldn't rouse her. She did sing happy birthday, though!
Happy Birthday Shaq!
