First Church of Lancaster

Bryan and I took a drive out to Lancaster today to visit the First Church of Lancaster designed by the architect Charles Bulfinch. It was built in 1816. We arrived after the normal Sunday service to the church being closed for the afternoon. We met the minister who told us how much he loved the building and offered us a tour. We saw everything! He even climbed with us up the clock tower to see the old hand-cranked mechanism that still works.

See those two black pipes? The entire sanctuary is heated by wood burning stoves at the back. Those pipes were very hot and the room was actually very comfortable.

  1. What a wonderful experience for you and Bryan. I bet it felt good to get out and go somewhere. We are getting ready for Easter. I think it was Easter when Bryan first brought you to our house. Am I right? Having an Easter egg dyeing at Cary's especially for Brady. We have missed that for a while. Glad to have a little one so we can all be kids again. Wish you were here. MaMaw
