Cobbler Competition

If you have a cobbler recipe that I should have, do share. I'll make it, I promise. I love cobbler!

I have two recipes currently battling it out for first place. One is on the Pioneer Woman's website (Blackberry Cobbler #2) which I've made a few times and think it's pretty fantastic. It's a lot lighter than the one below because there are less fatty ingredients.
This is the one I made last night:
Blackberry Cobbler
1 pkg store bought pie crust (should include two crusts)
2 cups berries (I used 3) (well drained)
1 & 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup flour
1 & 1/2 sticks real butter
1/4 cup heavy cream.
Put pie crust in the bottom of an iron skillet. (Yea, I forgot to mention I got a cast iron skillet at the flea market! Sure came in handy for this recipe!)
Add berries and spread 1 cup sugar over top. Sprinkle 1/2 cup flour over sugar. Cut up 1 stick of butter & place pieces on top of flour. Drizzle cream over all of this. Put second pie crust on top and close edges. Cover top with 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 stick butter.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour & 30 minutes (I only cooked mine 1hr 10min so just watch it that last 30 minutes.)

Market Mayhem

The Flea Market was a hit! We were a bit unsure about how things would go when only 35 seconds out of the driveway, my mom hits the breaks to go back to get her forgotten sunglasses and the bag of chex mix goes flying out of my lap and directly onto the floor. So once we got the glasses, swept out the chex mix, and got going on our do-over, we were smooth sailing.
There were some really great items: like these fantastic little bright green low-ball glasses (which came home with me)These old wooden English hand stamps:
We also saw some really interesting things as well: like this iron mannequin with real eyelashesAnd this kind of hair:And this kind of hair:And some people who probably shouldn't be handling tasers... like they are doing in this photo:And even some tricky things: like these "Shonrie's"... I mean, I guess it kind of looks like Sharpie. And these 'corn & potato' microwave pouches. Seriously? I'd rather not have to clean the inside of this nylon sack. And my grandma even bought an umbrella hat to amuse her pre-schoolers. (I was probably just as amused as those three year olds will be when she put that hat on!)Then to wrap up our trip to Memphis we went to the Neely's for BBQ! (In case you don't watch the food network, the Neely's have that show called "Down Home with the Neely's where they cook southern food.) Did I just say "Neely's" like ten times in one sentence?Hope you had a good weekend too!

Memphis Flea Market

This weekend my mom, my grandmother, my sister and myself are all going to Memphis for the Flea Market! I love going to fun things like this, and it's going to be a great chance to spend some time with the ladies in my family before I move far far away.

This time last summer I was at the: Brooklyn Flea Market
I hate to say it, but the Memphis Flea Market is much bigger and has a lot more stuff... not quite as many must-have pieces of vintage clothing or hip original pieces of art... but more stuff in general. I'm hoping to find a cast iron skillet that is already seasoned (because who really has the time any more to season a skillet?)
And if I were to find a cute vintage dress or two then so-be-it, a small price to pay for a day in the sun and 4 acres of junk to sort through.
Maybe I'll even bring home one of these guys!
Bryan would KILL me! But just look at those paws and that cute little tummy! Maybe I'll just stop and play with the pups for a few minutes and get it all out of my system.

Mrs. Norwood

I LOVE my new necklace! One of Beverly's good friends actually custom makes them so when I saw hers I immediately knew that I wanted one and what I wanted it to say. I am very pleased to say that I was her first customer so I thought I would take a few minutes to show off her skills! She hand makes every single part of each necklace. She bends, cuts, or stamps each piece. She is also a responsible artist... using only found pieces of metal, reclaimed chains, and found charms. All of these points make each necklace totally unique!

Super cute! Thank you so much Sarah!

If you would like to contact Sarah about having your own necklace created, please email her:
